School District 95 Educational Foundation Pairs With School Board to Ensure Kids Win!™
LAKE ZURICH, Ill (March 25, 2009) - The effects of the faltering economy have filtered down to many school districts—including Community Unit School District (CUSD) 95. The greater Lake Zurich community has joined forces to raise funds in an attempt to preserve many of CUSD 95’s programs currently proposed for reduction or elimination due to the proposed extreme budget cuts.
The School District 95 Educational Foundation in concert with the Board of Education has created the Kids Win!™ Fund to enable donations to be earmarked for specific programs, while providing donors with a tax deductible benefit, and potential for corporate matching donations. If donors do not have a specific program donation in mind, a general donation can be made and will be applied to a program at the discretion of the School Board. A full list of the costs associated with specific programs and activities proposed for elimination can be found on the organization’s website.
For more information about donating, visit the Foundation’s website at www.District95Foundation.org. Deadline for donations is June 1, 2009, so that they can be realized in time to affect the upcoming 2009-2010 school year budget. Donations can be made by mailing a check to the Foundation at 400 S. Old Rand Road, Lake Zurich, IL 60047 (with the restricted fund noted on the check) or via credit card on the Foundation’s website.
KIDS WIN!™ PROGRAM INITIATED BY EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION
Just prior to the news of the challenging finances facing the district, School District 95 Educational Foundation recently funded the much anticipated eSchool Home Access Center (HAC). The $20,000 technology enhancement interfaces with the school district’s current student management systems (SMS), allowing parents and guardians to have 24-hour access to their child’s grades, class schedule, homework and other important information.
“Our original mission was to provide innovative teacher and student grants, while funding activities and initiatives that support the children and the district at a higher level,” said John A. Sfire, chairman of the board of the School District 95 Educational Foundation. “However, when the economic state of the District became fully realized, we knew we had to work together to act in the best interest of our students to help maintain the current level of educational opportunities. We are very optimistic that the community will rally as it has before in challenging times.”
The School District 95 Educational Foundation is an outgrowth of the school district’s latest strategic plan. As a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit organization, the Foundation is an independent organization working with District 95 to support activities that enhance, enrich and supplement instructional opportunities for CUSD 95 learners consistent with the school district’s core values and mission.
